The engine powering the CX-30 is the same 2.5L 4-cylinder that's used in both the Mazda3 and the bigger CX-5. Producing 191 horsepower without the use of turbochargers means that the engine is always ready to go without the annoying wait that sometimes plagues turbocharged engines. But for the driving enthusiast that want a little more fun, the turbo engine produces 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque using regular fuel. Power is sent all-four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Despite the relatively powerful engine, fuel economy remains good, with an EPA rating of up to 24 mpg city, 33 mpg highway with the non-turbo and 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway with the turbocharged engine.
